Chapter 19: WiFi Signal

§§§ Happy Friday, Haha. Not edited.§§§

PS: I have no idea why this ch appear on LAMMLR link in NU (˵¯͒ བ¯͒˵) did I use the wrong link? No. Wrong tag? No. Wrong category? No.

During the Winter Solstice, just before the end of semester, in order to relax their students from the upcoming stressful exams, the school held an event, and all the teachers were told to go early to prepare. No matter how early he had to prepare, to Xiao Yao, who had the habit of running early in the morning, was of course an easy task.

The Winter Solstice, also known as midwinter, is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky.

After changing his clothes, Xiao Yao came out and stood at his door. Even though the light to his room was broken, from the faint light shining between the stairs, he could see that Ti Xiao’s room, which was opposite of his, was tightly closed.

After he finished running a few laps of his morning runs around the park near the community, Xiao Yao caught a glimpse of a gym across the street which displayed a number of discounts and concessions on the billboard light.

Before going back, he went around and bought a voice-activated light bulb.

When he returned home to make breakfast, Xiao Yao’s mind was full of thoughts of going to the gym with Little Bunny.

The result of doing two things at a time, made his hand shake, causing more water to add on the glutinous rice, and the breakfast for one person became for two.

After thinking about it, he still couldn’t bear to waste food. And after a careful consideration, he pulled out the plastic box, heated up a few steamed creamy custard buns, fried some vegetables, then stuffed them all in the box and came to Ti Xiao’s door.

In the morning, after finishing his morning jog, Xiao Yao often saw the delivery brother put breakfast in the box at the door of Ti Xiao’s room.

But today he didn’t see the delivery brother and the box was empty.

What had happened yesterday was still vivid; he remembered meeting Li Yi while having dinner with Little Bunny and then Xiao Yu had a fever.

It was him who invited the other person out for dinner, and it was also him who threw the other person off for his own matter.

Xiao Yao took out his phone to turn on the WLAN. Seeing the WIFI signal that seemed to say “I won’t give you even a bit of accession”, he unconsciously curled up the corners of his lips.

“The Winter Solstice is the day when the sun directly hits on the Tropic of Capricorn. It’s the day when the sun is at its lowest at noon, and it’s also the day when the northern hemisphere gets the least sunshine.” The Geography teacher spoke. She was an elderly female teacher, with a stern face and a slightly fat figure. She was holding her chubby hands behind her back speaking in the Popular Science office.

“Teacher Li, please don’t repeat it anymore.” The Math teacher was a young man with a high spirit, energetic kind of person. After saying that, he proudly raised his eyebrows. “Let’s go, Teacher Chen, let’s go to the cafeteria to make dumplings, and whoever makes less will sleep in the study.”

Teacher Chen, who taught Chemistry, looked at him with disdain. The thought of “childish” came to his mind and he snorted. Then walked out of the office with the Math teacher following behind.

The so-called stress-reducing school events before the end of semester was the activity that teachers make dumplings for their students.

The female students in several classes were clamoring to eat dumplings made by the English teacher, and they gathered around Xiao Yao one by one.

“Teacher Xiao, can you secretly wrap me a coin in the dumpling? I promise to take the test over 120 next time.”

“Teacher, I want coins too!”

Xiao Yao, who was being looked up to by the female students’ expected eyes, stood in front of the canteen counter, with a dumpling wrapper and a pile of meat on it in his hand, feeling dazed.

He couldn’t make dumplings.

He knew how to cook, whether it was frying, grilling, or boiling, he could adapt to everything relating to cooking skills.

But in the pastry category, like wrapping dumplings, his accomplishments were zero. It might have something to do with no one taught him to make dumplings when he was young.

“Wrap it like this.” The Geography teacher came over and demonstrated to him several times, “fold the dumpling wrapper in half, and then…”

Xiao Yao tried several times on his own, but each time was a failure. It was either the dumplings couldn’t hold up, or it couldn’t be wrapped because there was too much stuffing. The dumplings he made looked ugly and didn’t match their master’s appearance at all. However, no matter what appearance his dumplings turned out to be, the group of female students would rush to snatch it and eat it all.

At this time, his mind was drifting elsewhere.

On that day, meeting the Little Bunny while he was drawing on the blackboard for the Winter Solstice. And The Winter Solstice was to eat dumplings.

“Teacher Xiao, someone is looking for you outside. You can leave it here and go ahead.”

Naomi and Xiao Yu were waiting outside.

To have two foreigners standing there, they attracted a lot of students’ attention as they walked out of the classroom to participate in the event activities.

“Brother, hug!” Xiao Yu couldn’t wait to reach out for a hug as soon as he saw Xiao Yao.

“Come down and walk by yourself.” Xiao Yao came out in a hurry, he didn’t even have time to wipe off the flour on himself.

Xiao Yu was even more restless, he got off from his sister, then bouncing up and down on his two hands on the ground like a little bunny.

There were more and more students gathered around, and most of them gathered just to amuse this cute little guy, while giving him snacks.

“Let’s go.” Xiao Yao sighed as he took the tissue Naomi handed over and wiped his hands, then picked Xiao Yu up and walked to the school cafeteria.

The private high school had all kinds of hardware facilities. Even the cafeteria had four floors, while the top floor was a coffee shop. Xiao Yao ordered a cup of hot milk for the little guy, and a cup of coffee for himself and Naomi.

“Did something happen for you to come all the way here?” Xiao Yao asked as he folded his hands together.

The last time Naomi contacted him was through phone calls and WeChat. Moreover, he went to the hospital last night only because Xiao Yu was sick.

“Dad is back today,” Naomi said.

Just as Naomi’s words ended, Xiao Yao’s folded hands tightened suddenly.

Both of them tacitly didn’t continue this topic. Xiao Yu, who sat by Xiao Yao’s side, pulled his sleeve, yelling “Pudding!”

A long while later, Xiao Yao raised his hand and touched Xiao Yu’s head, and asked, “Did he say anything?”

——————

After the chatterbox Ti Nanyi left, the whole room seemed to return to silence. Ti Xiao coughed a few times feeling his hands and forehead were a little hot. When he was sick, even Xiao Hulu wouldn’t want to approach him.

Fortunately, the recent work had been completed. Aside from completing his unfinished task for readers, there seemed to be nothing else to do.

The group WeChat used for home sent a message saying that Ti Xiao would come back to eat dumplings at night. However, after he became independent and started living alone outside, rather than making them worry about himself, he would always come up with good news whenever he went to visit them. If Ti Xiao’s mother knew that her precious son was sick, she would definitely feel distressed.

Ti Xiao discussed with his family for a while, beating about the bush, he never got to the main point.

On the afternoon of the Winter Solstice, the north wind was surprisingly strong. Sitting indoors holding a cup of hot water, listening to the sound of the wind whistling outside the window, Ti Xiao, who seemed to overcome any difficulties in the past, right now was considering whether to go out to see a doctor or not.

Seeing the number on the thermometer had almost reached 40, and for the sake of saving his little life, Ti Xiao wrapped himself with 3 layers of clothes, deciding to go to see a doctor.

There was a small clinic near the block and it took him about fifteen minutes to walk there. The gym that Ti Xiao mentioned before was also on the way to the clinic.

Recovering his health was important, but flirting with the man was even more important.

When Ti Xiao pushed open the gym door, because he was in a little daze, he almost ran into a person who was about to go out.

“Handsome guy…” After seeing the new customer, the gym trainer greeted him enthusiastically. It was usual for him to see cute boys and beautiful girls, but he was dumbstruck seeing Ti Xiao, who was wearing a mask and wrapping himself like a ball.

However, no matter how he dressed himself or even if his style was a little silly, when it came to business, it was different.

“Do you want to apply for a membership card, dear? We have recently had a winter season discount. You can save up to 388 for the first 3 months, a good price to offer, which is very cost-effective.” As he said, he flipped open an advertisement page and handed it to Ti Xiao.

“These fitness facilities are first-rate. The treadmills have recently been replaced. There are also newly opened swimming pools and badminton halls downstairs.”

“If you don’t want to sign for the first 3 months, we still have a one-year program, so you will get 688.”

The degree of self-promotion which the trainer applied to boast the membership card was comparable to that of Ti Nanyi boating for her teacher. When he heard the trainer speaking, Ti Xiao’s head hurt, his temples jumped suddenly, and the various numbers on the advertisement page that fell into his eyes blurred.

He vaguely saw the above was probably a four-digit number, starting with “1”.

Ti Xiao was in a very poor state and his head was dizzy. He just wanted to quickly finish the membership card and prescribe some medicine and go home to sleep. When he was about to take out his wallet, the sound of the door opening together with a gust of cold wind blew from behind, bringing in the smell of fresh snow, making his mind sober for a moment.

Xiao Yao saw Ti Xiao as soon as he stepped into this gym.

He was like a ball wrapped in light gray-blue outfits.

Suddenly, his mood became better.

The other person didn’t seem to notice him yet, standing still, not knowing what he was talking about.

“Ti Xiao?” Xiao Yao walked over and patted him on the shoulder.

“Ah?” Ti Xiao raised his head, his nose was full of the fresh smell of the person in front of him, “You, are you here to apply for the card too?”

Although his brain was burnt, it didn’t seem to burn to an extreme. He still had a clear spot in his brain that was dedicated to the flirt.

Then he instantly remembered he was being boasted about the card member before and quickly changed his words, “I am… here to renew my card.”

He said in a very small voice as he nodded his head abruptly.

However, the trainer who wanted to promote the membership card, didn’t understand the situation. He also didn’t give Ti Xiao a face as he shook the advertisement page in his hand loudly. “There are discounts for new users here, especially suitable for you who have not applied for a card. It is very cost-effective.”

After hearing that, Ti Xiao wanted to hit someone.

This time, a good young man who was supposed to love sports, had fallen completely, turning into ashes. Even Tijiji wouldn’t be ab to recognize him.

(T/N: I’m not sure how to translate Tijiji, so I’ll just leave it at that.)

Xiao Yao stood aside, carrying a paper bag in his hand, which contained the ugly dumplings he cooked at school today.

After thinking about what Ti Xiao said before, combined with the current actual situation, his heart was clear and his mood was much smoother.

He lowered his head to look at Ti Xiao. A blushing as red as crimson was exposed on his skin. With a bashful mind and unconvinced speech, compared to the Little Bunny he met on normal days, this one in front of him was a thousand miles different from each other.

Ti Xiao really didn’t expect to meet Xiao Yao at this time of the day, he felt like his whole person was like an exposed dumpling right now.

Didn’t he say his working time was 9am to 5pm? But now it wasn’t 5pm yet.

Because Xuancheng was close to the north, even at this time of the day, the sky was dark. The colorful decorated lanterns were also beginning to shine as the sun slowly deviated from the Tropic of Cancer.

In this situation, where his pretense was being exposed, Ti Xiao really didn’t know what to say. He didn’t even know where to put his hands, and the whole person was at a loss. In addition, there was also a fever that burned a string in his head, and his IQ arrears became negative.

Ti Xiao bowed his head, digging his soles with his toes, hoping to make a hole out of it.

Suddenly, a slightly cool touch touched his forehead, and he could feel that the touch was from the flesh of a palm.

As the two extreme temperatures collided, Ti Xiao’s eyes suddenly widened. As soon as he looked up, Xiao Yao’s face came in right in front of him, and the smell of fresh snow also came along.

“Are you having a fever?” Xiao Yao asked in a deep voice.

Chapter 17: WiFi Signal

Proofread/edit: adlt1226

[(=´;ω;`=) good evening, good night, and good morning to all the Bl readers out there. I’ve made a new updating schedule of the 3 novels I’m working on starting next month. Since I and the proofreader/editor are busy working with our main jobs, the updating will be a little slow but steady on time (at most, we’ll try our best). I will announce the next date of publishing at the end of each chapter, so that you can look forward to it (probably). Btw, Taizi is the most hardest of them all, with lonnnnger chapter and words usage. Still, really thanks to the proofreader/editor a lot for taking your time helping me out (and suffering with me…). ヾ(=`ω´=)ノ”]

It was rare for Gua Pi to take the initiative to chat with him. It had been 3 years since they started working together, and other than work, Ti Xiao didn’t really have any reason to talk with Gua Pi. However, befriending him also wasn’t such a bad idea, Ti Xiao could also use this opportunity to ask more questions about his serialization. But maybe Gua Pi really did need his help in solving his life trouble.

Between the Gua Pi who talked about his own life, and the Gua Pi who talked about work on a normal day, always reminding him about the manuscript, these two personalities of his seemed completely different.

Editor·Gua Pi Pi: Aiya, this high school classmate and I used to study painting together. Our friendship at that time was like a piece of rice paper and a bottle of ink ah.

The editors of the comics platform had to be good at drawing in order to communicate well with the authors and understand their work.

Wise and Courageous, Da A’Ti: Then what happened after the two of you met?

Ti Xiao became a little absent-minded as he chatted and drew at the same time. He made several mistakes while drawing the body structure, and the entire drawing came out wrong numerous times, so he just gave up and concentrated on chatting instead.

Editor·Gua Pi Pi: After meeting, it’s…Ai, it’s actually quite embarrassing. I liked him when we were in high school, but he beat me up at that time hahaha, but that still didn’t stop me from liking him ah.

A strong M wind came across the screen. Ti Xiao wiped his nose with a tissue, and as he continued reading Gua Pi’s messages, he considered whether he should plant an orange tree for him.

(T/N: masochism. ‘Gua Pi is an M! Haha’)

Editor·Gua Pi Pi: Not only did I see him today, but I also saw his little boyfriend. You tell me, how can I not be angry?

Ti Xiao nodded his head in sympathy. If he saw Xiao Yao outside with someone, no matter whether it was a man or a woman, whether they were his boyfriend or girlfriend or not, his lungs would definitely explode.

There was a beep sound from the microwave, and Ti Xiao stood up to retrieve the food he placed inside for reheating. When he came back, he received a number of voice messages from Gua Pi one after another.

Aiya, typing is so tiring, I’ll just send you a voice message instead.”

Instead of using his original voice, he used a lolicon voice via the voice changer function that came with the chat software.

Ti Xiao shuddered when he heard the delicate sounding voice that came out after processing.

Because the two had followed each other on Weibo, Ti Xiao knew that his editor was male who loved men, and had already come out of the closet like himself.

“Let me tell you this. His boyfriend is so short. I guess he’s only 1.73 meters tall, zezeze

The meatball held between Ti Xiao’s chopsticks fell into his bowl, the soup almost splashing all over himself.

What’s wrong with 1.73? Has any 1.73 eaten your rice?

Ze your head.

Ti Xiao put a mouthful of rice in his mouth and swallowed it a little angrily, telling himself if you don’t grow to 1.85, you will become an orange!

Wise and Courageous, Da A’Ti: Then do you still like him?

“No, the timing is wrong, the location is wrong, and he already has a boyfriend. Why would I want to be mixed in with them ah~ wouldn’t it be troublesome?”

“Although he beat me up when we were in high school ahahaha, our relationship was still very good. Maybe it was because I didn’t tell him that I liked him.” Gua Pi’s words seemed to imply that when someone beats himself up was like a glorious thing.

“Later on, he went abroad and left without warning. He stayed quiet for some reason and didn’t contact me, not even once. To have met him by accident at this time is really unexpected..”

Accidental meeting is fate ah, like whenever Xiao Yao and I would meet everyday. Ti Xiao nodded at the thought.

Gua Pi sent another one-minute voice message, and Ti Xiao listened quietly. Just when the voice message was about to end, a piercing cry sounded in the background, along with a curse from Gua Pi.

Ti Xiao hadn’t responded yet when Gua Pi sent another message.

“Wtf! That Duck Neck in Despair! Has he harassed you before?”

Hearing this, Ti Xiao thought of the two sentences Ya Bozi sent him that day at noon, but he had deleted both.

But isn’t Ya Bozi a sister?

Wise and Courageous, Da A’Ti: What’s the matter? How can a woman harass you? Aren’t you the one harassing him

(T/N: don’t scold me. The first sentence TX used the word woman. The last, he used 他 (he/him), so I’ll just translate according to the text.)

“Fart!” Gua Pi sounded a little agitated, so excited that he forgot to turn on the voice changer, and his original voice came through directly.

“He’s a man! A man! Did you think he was a woman because he goes around talking in a cutesy way in his messages?” Gua Pi said, “Damn! He always sends me pictures of himself; it’s either his abs, his waist, or his ankle. Offending this editor! Does he not want to live anymore?”

There was still no change in his voice.

“But.” Gua Pi’s tone changed. “It’s quite appealing hahahaha.”

Ti Xiao felt that the voice was a little familiar, but couldn’t remember where he had heard it, and how he was familiar with it. He put down the bowl in his hand and wanted to reply to him with something.

“F*ck! Did I forget to change my voice just now?” His voice was a little embarrassed as he hurriedly sent a haha. “Forget about it, forget about it.”

Gua Pi then put on a delicate loli-tone, and the two started chatting seriously about their work for a while. They discussed his serialization as well as some of the unreasonable parts and scenes of the story.

It was already 10 o’clock when they finished chatting. The sky was already dark, the food had gone cold again, and Xiao Hulu was already sound asleep beside him.

His readers persevered on Weibo, yelling and causing a commotion several times a minute as if they were in a demonstration, demanding someone to drive a car.

Because of his cold, Ti Xiao’s voice sounded a little uncomfortable, and now he felt a little bit weak even after taking a rest.

He thought about Xiao Yao as he sat at the table holding the pen, then quickly drew the figure of a man’s back in 10 minutes.

Only half of the back was drawn, while the other half was left blank. The outline was not smooth and the edges were incomplete. The image showed a contour of a back with snowflakes falling down like rain showers, and the bottom of the picture was filled with white flowers.

It also looked like a person blooming out of a flower, and carried with it the smell of fresh snow.

Wise and Courageous, Big A’Ti: Sorry, sorry, I’m really uncomfortable today because of a cold. The unicycle that I promised will be handed to you all later.

Today your father has brought the back of a Long-legged Biscuit for all of you【Image】

The Long-legged Biscuit himself was still at the hospital. His phone vibrated after receiving a notification that the author Da A’Ti had posted something on Weibo.

Long-legged Biscuit?

What is this nickname? Why do I get a weird feeling from the painting style of these two people whom I’ve been following in my life? Whether it’s from Little Bunny or this manga author Da A’Ti.

Besides… Xiao Yao stared at the screen intently, and felt that there was something strange.

He hadn’t read this author’s Weibo moments or followed up on his comic for a while now. Just as he was about to scroll down, he heard Naomi’s voice calling him over.

“Xiao Yao, Xiao Yu is awake,” said Naomi.

“Cleveland!” Xiao Yu repeated the English name which Xiao Yao wasn’t very fond of.

The blush on the child’s face had faded, revealing a white face as pure as jade. His long eyelashes fluttered as he blinked his blue eyes while looking at his brother.

Xiao Yu stretched out his little baby hands towards Xiao Yao, looking as if he was asking for a hug. On the back of one of his hands was a band-aid, securing the needle connected to the IV drip.

He said something like “Ge, hug” in unclear Chinese.

Because his elder sister Naomi told him that his elder brother didn’t like to listen to English much, the little guy tried to speak Chinese, even though he wasn’t fluent at it.

Xiao Yao looked at the little brother whose eyebrows were vaguely similar to his, but did not stretch out his hand, and just stood there.

Xiao Yu’s small arms were still stretched out in the air, looking at Xiao Yao eagerly, with longing in his blue eyes.

Xiao Yao seemed to have thought of something, and sighed imperceptibly. His attitude towards this half-brother finally became a little softer as he bent over and squatted in front of him, then picked him up on his shoulders.

The little guy’s expression turned from dejection to joy in an instant. His small eyes were also shining. He was so happy that he even forgot how to say the English word “happy” in Chinese.

No one knew what or who Xiao Yao was thinking about at this moment.

It just so happened that the person he thought of had a big sneeze.

“Achoo–” Ti Xiao sneezed just as he was about to take the medicine, causing his hand to shake and the pills to fall to the floor, rolling under the sofa.

Chapter 16: WiFi Signal

Translator: マイ

Proofread/edit: adlt1226

Ti Xiao returned home with a large bag of packed food. He opened and closed the door with a “Bang ——”.

Smelling the fragrant meals, Xiao Hulu came over and lazily rubbed against his leg, brushing its body around his trousers.

Ti Xiao took off his coat, he thought about how he planned to seduce the man tonight as he stood in the empty room. Suddenly, his mood was like…

“Xiao Yao, you’re a ruthless scumbag!”

I was looking forward to this date for a month, and when you said we need to leave, you left just like that?

You think you can just summon me with a wave of your hand?

Hmph! Xiao Yao, aren’t you just a long-legged son of a bi… biscuit?

Ti Xiao hmphed angrily, and then took out bags of garbage that he hadn’t thrown out for many days and placed these in the middle of the hallway – more like in front of Xiao Yao’s unit, making it look like it was Xiao Yao who hadn’t thrown away the garbage for a long time.

I’ll make you know what ruthless is!

I’ll let everyone in the building know that you are a sloppy ghost.

The sloppy and naive ghost himself was standing in the hallway, stomping his feet unhappily, trying to switch on the voice-activated lights.

However, he failed several times in a row.

The hallway on this floor was dark. The voice-activated lights on this floor where his and Xiao Yao’s units were located seemed to be broken. The only light at this moment came from his unit and the light passed through the gaps between the stair treads leading to the upstairs and downstairs units.

The cold wind that rushed from the downstairs to the fourth floor, made Ti Xiao shiver and sneeze. He stood in front of the door, and when he placed his hand inside his pocket, his fingers touched a square and hard object.

It was the cold medicine Xiao Yao bought him on their way back from the restaurant.

Ti Xiao’s hand rubbed the medicine packaging several times in his pocket, from the horizontal edge to the sharp corner. As if eyes grew out of his fingers, he could tell the writing on the paper box, and could even imagine what kind of mood Xiao Yao was in when he bought the medicine for him at that moment.

Xiao Hulu meowed beside his feet, and the meowing sound echoed a little in the hallway.

Ti Xiao looked at the garbage bags between their apartment units while tapping his finger on the sharp corner of the medicine packaging. He squatted down, hugged Xiao Hulu, then turned around and went into his apartment with a smile on his lips.

Forget it, for the sake of having such a face and that I like you, and for the reasons you haven’t denied anything, I’ll forgive you for the time being.

After making up his mind, Ti Xiao did not forget his readers’ welfare and the promise he made earlier. He turned on his computer and connected the pen display. Just as he prepared to draw, he received a message from Gua Pi.

The editor’s working hours was from nine to five; it was already 8 o’clock in the evening, and there weren’t any reasons for Gua Pi to still be working at this time.

Gua Pi was Ti Xia’s editor. Although they talked to each other, their conversations usually revolved around work – Gua Pi either reminded him about his manuscript or discussed comics, and they would not talk about non-work related matters.

They did not have any reason to get together, especially at this time of the day—

Editor · Gua Pi Pi: A’Ti ah, I’ll tell you something. Today I ran into a high school classmate I haven’t seen for a long time~

——————

Hospital, registration counter.

“Xiao Yu, four years old.” Xiao Yao bent down slightly and handed the money to the nurse sister through the small window. The nurse sister couldn’t help but take a second look at him because of the serious look on his face and his furrowed eyebrows.

The temperature in Xuancheng had dropped significantly in the past few days. People of all ages filled the emergency department, many of whom had not escaped the trivial fate of catching a cold on this cold winter night.

Cries of children unwilling to get an injection or to take their medicine came one after another. Xiao Yao frowned and looked around, then his eyes finally fell on the beautiful back of a blonde woman not far away. She had her back to him so he couldn’t determine what kind of expression she had at that moment, but it was easy to see that she held a child in her arms, one arm hanging loosely.

Little Bunny also caught a cold.

I wonder if he is home now? Has he taken his medicine yet? Will he come to the hospital if his condition gets worse?

These three questions popped up in succession, and Xiao Yao’s mind filled with Ti Xiao’s image – wrinkling his nose as he sniffed, his mouth pressed so tight that he could see the dimples on both sides of his cheeks, coupled with his big black and round eyes.

He recalled the amusing event that happened when he bought cold medicine for Ti Xiao. Because Ti Xao was carrying things in his hands, he sat in the waiting area of the pharmacy while Xiao Yao went to buy cold medicine.

Probably because of the popularization of same-sex marriage laws, the number of individuals identifying themselves as part of the LGBTQ community had surged in recent years, especially the number of male lovers.

The cashier, who might have had similar encounters on previous occasions in his role, threw two boxes directly onto the counter when he saw Xiao Yao approaching.

One box of lubricant and one box of condoms.

Xiao Yao’s brain burned hot, and he felt a little uncomfortable when he saw the two boxes in front of him. He rubbed the area under his nose with his index finger, then pressed one hand to his lips.

Xiao Yao lowered his head and looked at his phone while the nurse sister printed his receipt. The last time he contacted Ti Xiao was yesterday.

He pressed his finger to the screen and kept dragging the messaging interface down to refresh, but he didn’t receive any new messages.

What was he expecting?

He also had no idea.

Later the phone vibrated twice, but they were all messages from Li Yi.

High School-Li Yi: Aiyaya, you are really ruthless. Did you drive me away because I ran into you and your little boyfriend having dinner together? I won’t tell your dad, relax~

Xiao Yao typed the three words “he is not” in the input box. However, after a slight thought, he deleted it and pretended not to see the message.

Meeting Li Yi at the restaurant was really unexpected.

Li Yi was his high school classmate, and they studied painting together at that time. Even though they kept in contact when Xiao Yao went abroad, in the end, they were no longer the same as when they were in high school.

At the same time, after four years of not seeing each, he didn’t expect that Li Yi would still be the same – he was still careless with his words. As soon as his words come out, it’s able to poke a hole in the sky.

“Is this your boyfriend?”

Xiao Yao looked down at his fingertips for a while, this incident touched his bottom line to some extent.

He didn’t want to think about nor mention anything regarding relationships.

But at that time, when he brushed past Ti Xiao’s fingertips, it gave birth to the desire of wanting to stretch out his hand to hold Ti Xiao’s hand in his, even though he didn’t feel it before – when they first met at the convenience store.

He was like a person standing in the dense jungle, always on guard. He wrapped himself in layers of thorny vines wound tightly, making it impossible for anyone to see the real person inside.

However, an element has come to disturb this armor he has set up for himself. It quietly lifted a layer, then unwound the vines until he bled from the thorns that had embedded themselves in his flesh, revealing his sincere and passionate heart.

He wanted to make a flower bloom out of that blood.

But he was afraid of having regrets.

Some words, if said without any careful consideration, it would be too late to change and take back.

Xiao Yao was fully aware of this truth.

Fortunately, Naomi’s phone call gave him a choice, which was why he was standing in the hospital now.

“Turn left to the first room.” The nurse sister couldn’t help but take a look at Xiao Yao a few more times as she passed him the printed receipt and his change through the window.

Holding the registration slip, Xiao Yao patted Naomi’s shoulder. “Let’s go.”

Naomi was worthy of the name blond and green eyes – she had dark green eyes and light golden curly hair.

The child she held in her arms looked uncomfortable, a thin layer of sweat coming out of his smooth forehead. His face was flushed red, his tightly closed eyelids hiding azure blue irises, and there were shallow teeth marks on his lower lip.

“How is he?” Xiao Yao led the way and asked, he didn’t even look back.

But one could tell that he was referring to the child in Naomi’s arms.

“39 degrees.” Naomi took out the thermometer and looked at it. “I originally planned on bringing Xiao Yu to the hospital by myself, but he was crying and wanting to see you…”

Hearing that, Xiao Yao raised his eyebrows slightly.

The boy was his half-blood younger brother with the same father, while Naomi was his elder sister in the legal sense but shared no blood relationship. It was also another thing he didn’t want to talk about.

Chapter 15: WiFi Signal

Perhaps even God doesn’t know how much Ti Xiao wanted to scream, “Yes.”

A kind of scream that would resound throughout the sky, so that people of all skin and hair colors across the world could hear it. However, he didn’t dare to. In fact, he kept trying to flirt with the other person, but he didn’t dare take any action.

If he had to count the places where they had an encounter in this relationship, it would be, “downstairs, at the convenience store, and in front of the community’s gate.”

Even Xiao Yao’s sexual orientation was unknown, what if he was as straight as steel? What if it made Xiao Yao feel disgusted after he confessed recklessly? What if, what if he gave him the cold shoulder after confessing?

After all, Xiao Yao seemed to show no desire, he’s always quiet and calm – a pure-hearted ascetic style, and no trace of gay breath could be detected. Ti Xiao had 10,000 things running in his mind, but in the end, he was still like a little Goldfish that could only spit bubbles.

Xiao Yao didn’t speak.

Li Yi seemed to have taken it as his default response. He sat directly beside Ti Xiao, squeezing in using his hip, motioning for Ti Xiao to move a little bit.

“I say, Xiao Yao has always liked your type,” said Li Yi.

“Li Yi.” Xiao Yao finally spoke. He frowned, and his voice sounded a little serious.

“Aiya aiya, look at my mouth.” Li Yi grinned. Ignoring the mmp* in Xiao Yao’s heart, he clapped his palms in the air two times, pretending to slap his mouth.

(mmp: Cursing/Motherfucker.)

But it did make Ti Xiao notice something.

Always, like, your type.

Mine… my type?

And what kind of like?

It looks like Xiao Yao might be bent at 90 and not exactly a straight steel man…

Raising his head, Ti Xiao stared at Xiao Yao from the other side of the table. Xiao Yao’s brows slightly furrowed, his slender fingers were folded together, the sleeves of his sweater were slightly rolled up, revealing a wristwatch, and an area in the wrist commonly known as the Absolute Domain.

Ti Xiao’s little heart screamed after observing these things.

It looks like they couldn’t be friends anymore.

However, a friend of Xiao Yao’s was sitting next to him. This friend even wrapped his arm around his neck and kept messing with him.

“Let me tell you. A lot of people chased after Xiao Yao when he was in high school, and now, he has finally fallen into your hands…” said Li Yi while glancing at Ti Xiao. “Un… still okay, hahaha.” He added then laughed it off.

For Ti Xiao, the first half of the sentence was instrumental, but the second half was a bit… what did he mean, still okay?

Ti Xiao wanted to slap this hand away and ask this vicious male partner No.2 whether he wanted to add drama for himself.

However, listening to Li Yi’s noise in his ears, it made Ti Xiao catch a clue—

That he could easily ignore Xiao Yao’s hard exterior, which in fact seemed to be really thin. In that instant, Xiao Yao’s image in Ti Xiao’s eyes did a complete 180; Xiao Yao went from a steel straight man to mosquito repellent incense. With that in mind, he felt assured that he can now boldly start his pursuit.

Vicious male partner No. 2’s favorability rose from 0 to 0.1.

While Li Yi was singing a one-person show, the waitress started serving the dishes one after another. After a quick count, there were nearly ten dishes.

“Even you two can’t finish this much.” Li Yi beamed as he turned to the waitress, calling her sister in a flirtatious manner, and said, “Sister, please give me another set of tableware~.”

However, only Xiao Yao knew that this money-grubbing senior of his had been out of the closet for years.

Except for Xiao Yao, he flirted with all the boys in his class when he was in high school.

The reason he didn’t dare to tease Xiao Yao back then – not because he didn’t want to but because Xiao Yao had beat him up even before he could start flirting.

Xiao Yao still wanted to beat him up, even at this very moment – babbling all day with that mouth of his.

“No need to add another set for him.” Xiao Yao stopped the waitress in her tracks with a deep voice. “Just two sets of tableware here is enough, thank you.”

“Xiao Yaoyao, how can you be so ruthless.” Li Yi said with a sour face, making a QAQ expression.

Xiao Yao stood up, grabbed his hoodie, and dragged him out of the hall, “Get up, I’m seeing you off.”

After Li Yi was mercilessly chased away, the table was quiet again. No one spoke anymore, and the silence made the air even a bit awkward.

“That.” While Xiao Yao was picking food, Ti Xiao said, “I didn’t take it to heart, so you don’t have to worry.”

But Ti Xiao did take it to heart. In fact, he was hoping that Xiao Yao would be a little perturbed by what happened – even better if he worried a little more. Xiao Yao was stunned for a moment, feeling as if he had been robbed of his lines. These words should obviously come from him, but how come Little Bunny was the one comforting him instead.

“It’s okay.” Xiao Yao smiled and gave him the soup. “Li Yi always talks like that, and I hope you can bear with it. If there was something that made you uncomfortable, I am apologizing on his behalf.”

After he finished speaking, he pushed the porcelain bowl toward Ti Xiao. Because his phone happened to be in the way, Ti Xiao reached out his hand to put his phone away and lightly brushed against Xiao Yao’s hand.

A strange feeling seemed to fill the air around them. If we zoom in, there was a noticeable pause between them after their hands touched. And if you looked at it carefully, it seemed there was even a spark, filled with a small cluster of bursting starlight.

That moment was so exciting that it made Ti Xiao sniff his nose, breaking off the tense atmosphere.

“Are you still feeling uncomfortable with your cold? I will ask the waiter to bring some ginger soup.” Xiao Yao took out a tissue and handed it to Ti Xiao.

“Ah, no need.” Ti Xiao tried hard to hold back his runny nose. “You don’t have to apologize, it’s fine.”

It was simply too good; it couldn’t be any better.

When Ti Xiao reached out to get the tissue, he deliberately moved his hand forward, causing their hands to touch again. Xiao Yao fixed his gaze on Ti Xiao; something flickered in his eyes, and he didn’t even move his hands.

Consequently, Ti Xiao couldn’t pull the paper out of Xiao Yao’s hand even after a while had passed.

Right at this moment, Xiao Yao’s phone vibrated several times, followed by a piece of music, a piano piece to be exact. It sounded familiar, and Ti Xiao thought he’d heard it somewhere before.

“Sorry.” Xiao Yao suddenly returned to his senses, and the strength in his hand also relaxed. “You eat first. I’ll just answer the phone.”

As soon as Xiao Yao left, he received a message from Ti Nanyi.

Ti Nanyi: Extra edition! Our English teacher shouldn’t have a girlfriend【Happy】

However, Ti Xiao’s thoughts right now were all focused on Xiao Yao, and he had no time to gossip about Ti Nanyi’s English teacher. He looked in the direction where Xiao Yao headed off to and secretly used his fingertips that had brushed against Xiao Yao’s hand to squeeze his face.

Even so, Ti Nanyi persistently bombarded him with messages. Perhaps thinking that her words were not enough to convey her excitement, she decided to send a voice message instead.

The voice was a bit loud, so Ti Xiao lowered the volume slightly before listening to the voice message.

“My classmate saw him in a restaurant just now. It’s the same restaurant that you like very much – Xuancheng. My classmate just saw him sitting in a couple’s booth with a man, a couple’s booth!”

The same restaurant, is there such a coincidence?

Ti Xiao glanced around, trying to find the handsome and tall English teacher Ti Nanyi spoke of. After looking around several times, there was only one table that fit Tian Nanyi’s description. Two men sat opposite each other. One of them was indeed around one meter and eighty-five meters in height. Sitting opposite him was also a man, but his face was really not worthy of a “handsome” character.

Ti Xiao decided it was time for Ti Nanyi to go to the ophthalmology department to see if her eyes were nearsighted or blind.

How was this called handsome?

Even if Xiao Yao had dandruff falling off his head, he’d still be 10,000 times more handsome than that.

“It’s a pity that my classmate couldn’t take any photos. She was walking with her parents and was in a hurry. Otherwise, I really want to see which little goblin abducted our English teacher.”

Ti Xiao sneezed while listening to Ti Nanyi’s voice messages, he wiped his nose with a tissue, and took a sip of ginger soup, only to find that it had already gone cold.

He took a piece from a few of the other dishes – everything had gone cold.

Xiao Yao had been on the phone for a long time and still hadn’t returned. Before he got up, Ti Xiao heard him say “Hello”(in English). Was it the same call from when he was downstairs the last time?

Feeling bored, Ti Xiao used one hand to support his cheek while looking at his other hand’s fingertips. A few seconds later, he called the waitress to help warm up the dishes. When Xiao Yao came back, there was also a message from Ti Nanyi—

“I said before that our English teacher must be an elegant gay guy. I really guessed it right.”

“Sorry.” As soon as Xiao Yao came back, he apologized to Ti Xiao. Ti Xiao was confused; he didn’t know what was happening, so he stopped scrolling through the posts on his Weibo.

What is he apologizing for?

Xiao Yao picked up his jacket on the sofa and looked down at his wristwatch.

Then Ti Xiao heard him say to the waitress, “No need to heat it. Please pack it instead; we have to go now.”

Chapter 14: WiFi Signal

Transistor: マイ

Proofread/edit: adlt1226

Wishing for the stars and the moon, the long-awaited dinner date with Xiao Yao had finally arrived.

And at the same time, he came down with a cold.

Ti Xiao sneezed a lot. After wiping his nose with tissue paper, several sneezes followed. As a result, Xiao Hulu ran so far away from him, for fear of being infected with the virus this human beast carried.

This really did make him become a big sneezer.

As for the reason he caught a cold, instead of blaming how poor his physical fitness was, Mr. Pass The Buck little expert thought that it was because Xiao Yao squeezed his face that day. It made him so happy that he took off his big cotton jacket and painted the wall under the cold weather.

But no matter how bad his condition worsened, he still had to go out to have a meal with Xiao Yao, even if he had to blow his nose off. After all, he had waited for a month for this opportunity to light the sparks.

Thinking like this, Ti Xiao took out the long red trousers his mother bought him on his birthday.

In fact, Ti Xiao wasn’t the only one looking forward to this dinner. Xiao Yao did as well.

Xiao Yao’s anticipation led him to overthink. He kept trying to come up with reasons as to why they were having dinner together. In the end, he convinced himself that he was finally returning the favor.

He looked at his bank account to check the first month’s salary. Although it wasn’t much, Xiao Yao wasn’t short of money either. However, this dinner date made Xiao Yao really excited all night, making him feel an intense fulfillment in his heart.

The restaurant had already been booked in advance, and he also agreed with Little Bunny to meet downstairs at five.

Xiao Yao looked at his wristwatch; there was still 15 minutes before five o’clock.

He rubbed his hands together, unable to figure out whether his current state was due to the cold or due to his excitement.

Truthfully speaking, because Xiao Yao lived abroad for a while, and was exposed to the rain and cold weather all year round, his resistance to the cold was higher than most people. That’s why when he returned to China and experienced this winter, he didn’t feel that cold even when he only wore a windbreaker and a jacket.

This was a total contrast to Ti Xiao.

So while Ti Xiao, who was afraid of the cold, came out wearing a scarf and a fluffy coat, he saw Xiao Yao wearing only a thin jacket with the cuffs pulled up a little.

He frowned and realized that things were not that simple. One was short in height and wrapped himself like a ball, and the other was tall and dressed refreshingly, showing his narrow waist and long legs. With their height difference, the picture they painted was a vivid interpretation of the big-headed son and a small-headed father.

Xiao Yao smiled when he saw Ti Xiao dressed up like a ball. This seemed to be the first time he saw Little Bunny all dressed up, with a light gray and blue outfit.

When Xiao Yao saw Ti Xiao wrapping himself into a bundle with a little bun on top of his head, his first impression of Ti Xiao was of a ball, bouncing and jumping all over. Although that impression has almost faded, he still remembered.

“Where are we going?” Ti Xiao asked, sniffing, and his voice sounded hoarse.

The black jacket Xiao Yao was wearing was a little bit large. He crossed his two long legs one on top of the other as he leaned against the wall.

Ti Xiao wore a fluffy down coat that covered his thighs and a little bit of his knees. He stood to the side and looked at Ti Xiao, tilting his head up slightly.

This time, the sight they made was like a scene from a song titled Where are we going, Dad?

Xiao Yao didn’t answer his question. Instead, he asked, “Did you catch a cold? Have you taken your medicine yet?”

Aiyou aiyou, the little goblin really cares about people.

Ti Xiao was happy in his heart, but still insisted, “No, I just woke up.”

Right after he finished speaking, a big sneeze resounded across the sky.

“Still reluctant to admit it*.” Xiao Yao frowned. “Do you have medicine at home? If not, do you want to buy some on the way later?”

(*嘴硬; literally means stiff mouth. Also mean: stubborn and reluctant to admit mistakes or defeat.)

Stiff or not, you will know when you come to kiss it.

“It’s okay. I’m in good health, and I don’t need to take medicine for a cold.” Ti Xiao quickly waved his hand. “Let’s go. If we don’t go now, it will be dark soon.”

Despite what he said, Xiao Yao still added a note to his phone memo——

“Take Little Bunny to buy cold medicine.”

The two left after the exchange. Ti Xiao kept peeking at Xiao Yao secretly, with his face hidden under his scarf. What he saw was the other’s calm expression, like still waters, as if nothing could make him panic. Finally, his gaze rested on the hand that swayed with every step.

But what Ti Xiao actually had in mind right now was, I wonder if he will pinch my face again today?

——————

The restaurant Xiao Yao reserved was quite famous for its special dish in Xuancheng. Ti Xiao also often came here to eat with his family before.

“Mr. Xiao Yao, right?” The waitress looked at the reservation list, “I’m sorry, the big table you reserved is currently occupied. We estimate that it will take a while until the table becomes available. But if there are only two people in your party, would you mind sitting in the couple’s booth?”

Couple?

While Xiao Yao was stunned, Ti Xiao was bathed with joy.

The reason why he reserved a large table was because he didn’t know what Ti Xiao liked to eat, so he ordered a lot of dishes in advance. There wouldn’t be enough space if they sat at a couple’s booth.

He thought for a while and decided to ask Ti Xiao for his opinion.

As soon as he turned around, he heard a long “Guru——”.

Alright, Xiao Yao turned his head back again, if it’s a couple’s booth then the couple’s booth it is. Making people hungry is not good.

“I don’t mind, take us over.” Xiao Yao said.

“Please prepare more tissue paper, my friend has a cold,” he added.

Ti Xiao stuffed his nose and patted his stomach with satisfaction, thanking it for its divine assistance.

The couple’s booth was set in a special area, with soft piano music playing in the background and orange-pink lighting, making the ambiance a little ambiguous. The whole area exuded a very romantic feeling, which was very different from the noisy hall outside. It was worthy of the “couple” reference.

Most of the couples in the area were lovers – men, and women, who were enjoying themselves and their meal since a while ago. But as soon as Xiao Yao – the Holly Sky Tree, appeared by the entrance, there were whispers and all kinds of unexplained stares directed at him.

Ti Xiao, who was following behind Xiao Yao, felt unhappy in his heart. He wished to block all the stares directed at Xiao Yao.

Don’t look, you can’t look. He’s mine.

Xiao Yao seemed accustomed to receiving these kinds of gazes, so he turned a blind eye to all of it, and only lightly scanned the surroundings. Then he found an area where there was warm air blowing from the air conditioner.

After taking their seats, and even before they had time to speak, their cell phones rang almost simultaneously.

For Ti Xiao, it was a notification for the comments on his Weibo. Because his serialization had recently reached a key point in the plot, it created hype among the readers and they were urging him for more. Ti Xiao wondered if he could open a wave of welfare and trap the readers first.

Xiao Yao, who sat on the opposite side, also looked down at his phone. He tapped his slender fingers on the screen from time to time.

Ti Xiao separated his slightly long bangs and snuck a glance at Xiao Yao, only to hate that his visual acuity was not 2.0.

But he seemed to distinguish a photo on his phone screen.

It was unknown what kind of photo it was exactly.

On Xiao Yao’s side, he received a message from Naomi, and it was indeed a photo.

The photo was of a mixed-race baby with blue eyes and fluffy brown curly hair. Whoever saw this photo, would say that this was cute.

But no matter how cute this photo was, for Xiao Yao, he couldn’t be happy.

Ti Xiao cautiously looked at Xiao Yao from the opposite side. The other person slightly furrowed his eyebrows, the corners of his mouth pursed, and the word unhappy was written all over his face. Seeing this expression, Ti Xiao really wanted to reach out and comfort him.

However, he could only sigh and started replying to readers’ comments.

Reply@are we going for a drive today: go go go, we’ll meet Qiu Mingshan tonight.

(I’m not sure what to use here. 开车; literally means drive a car. But on the internet, it can be used to describe something perverted. And TX’s work was drawing BL, so that’s it.)

Looks like I have to work overtime tonight.

When Ti Xiao put down his phone, Xiao Yao’s phone vibrated twice.

Naomi: You really don’t plan to come see him?

Xiao Yao was about to reply to the message, but someone called his name not far away.

“Xiao Yao?”

The other person was a man in a black sweater. His eyes were narrow, his eyebrows were slightly raised, his face was feminine, and the height… was taller than Ti Xiao’s.

In Ti Xiao’s view, this kind of person was very suitable as a vicious gay partner in comics.

But unexpectedly, when Xiao Yao raised his head and looked up, the knit between his brows eased, “Li Yi, why are you here?”

Li Yi replied, “You’re not the owner of this shop, why can’t I be here? But you, why don’t you tell me when you come back home? I’ve been running errands for you for nothing for the past three years.”

Xiao Yao only smiled but didn’t answer him.

Ti Xiao, who sat on the other side, had no idea what their conversation was about.

This vicious male partner seemed very familiar with Xiao Yao; was he a high school classmate or a junior high school classmate?

“You are still the same. You didn’t tell us anything when you went abroad and left without a word that year.” Li Yi shrugged his shoulders carelessly, and turned his gaze to Ti Xiao, “But then again.”

Li Yi slightly raised his chin in a frivolous manner.

“Is this your boyfriend?”

Life After Marrying My Love Rival Ch 9

Chapter 9

Translator: マイ

While Zhao Sheng was pretending to be drunk on the table, Shen Du also quietly left the room; lest he later ask all sorts of questions, his ears wouldn’t take it.

After leaving the place, he only sent a text message to let Zhao Sheng be on his own.

Zhao Sheng replied back with grief and anger: [Neglecting friend when you’re smitten with a new love! Are you running to follow that little star?]

Shen Du was too lazy to deal with him.

Zhao Sheng didn’t see him reply, and called directly: “Ai, I say Shen Du, who told me a few days ago that the entertainment industry is dirty, and only your BaiYueGuang* is clean and pure, how did you change your mind? Today, after seeing someone looking beautiful, then ask me to help? Why do I feel like you’re a cold-face meanie with no moral principle ne…”

[*白月光: someone who’s out of reach. Can look but can’t touch. (I’m still struggling whether to use Chinese term BaiYueGuang or translate White Moon Light.)]

Zhao Sheng could talk and was like a chatterbox during gossip, so Shen Du wisely chose to put the phone away to a side and let his childhood friend talk to his heart content. When he finished, he hung up the phone directly.

Shen Du paid attention to cause and effect in everything he did, and he also thought about why he wanted to help Ye NanQi.

The Ye NanQi, who appeared in his mind with his head looking up and eyes were closed in the bathroom, pale and tired, was very different from the usual personable and spirited man he thought.

—and it was very unpleasant to look at.

Ye NanQi in his impression shouldn’t be like this.

Ye NanQi’s profile at that time was unpleasant to the eyes, so it was no problem that he helped.

When he got home, as soon as Shen Du opened the door, his feet crushed over something. Looking down he found that, that thing was Ye NanQi.

Ye NanQi came back stumbled by the door in a drunken state, who knew how long.

Shen Du turned on the light and kicked his shoulder with his toe: “Get up.”

Ye NanQi’s drunken behavior was good. Even if he was drunk, he didn’t make noise or trouble. He was awakened by Shen Du, and with a sudden brightness, he covered half of his eyes for a while before letting go. He blink, looking up at Shen Du, with his face seeming be with a faint blush.

He was lying blocking the way, but Shen Du didn’t step on him: “Don’t lie here.”

Ye NanQi apparently didn’t recognize who he was, and just stretched out his hand drunkenly: “… hug.”

Shen Du looked at his blushing face, so cute even he was drunk. He stretched his hands like a devil to pinch his face before returning to his sense: “Un?”

Ye NanQi felt wronged: “You can’t get up without hugging.”

“…” Shen Du thought a bit: “Baby Ye, how old are you?”

Then he leaned down, trying to lift Ye NanQi and toss him aside.

Ye NanQi was keenly aware of the danger, sitting up on the floor, looking up at Shen Du, and felt being wronged. His eyes were red, his thin lips were slightly lifted. The beautiful embedded lip beads, moist and soft, with a touch of pink, as if seducing people for a kiss.

Shen Du gave him a glance, suddenly he felt his scalp was tingling. Ye NanQi had no memory of that night, but he remembered many vague fragments, including the soft touch of his lips.

Ye NanQi was too drunk and still in daze. After looking at him for a while, and saw that that was Shen Du, he prolonged his voice and said: “… Shen Du.”

Shen Du held his hands and wanted to see how this drunken cat could toss around.

Ye NanQi said: “You are a fool.”

Shen Du: “…”

Shen Du walked pass Ye NanQi in silent and wanted to go back to the room directly. He only took two steps when a ‘thump’ sound was heard. Ye NanQi fell down again.

He didn’t want to bother, just wanted to return to the room, take a shower then change his clothes. However, when he came back downstairs again, he found Ye NanQi was still sleeping by the door.

Although there was heating in the room, it was still cold on the floor, so sleeping for one night wouldn’t be good for your health.

Shen Shaoye was born with a handsome and mean-looking face. He looked at Ye NanQi who was lying like a dead for a while but still held him up. He didn’t have the patience to send the Buddha to the west*, put Ye NanQi on the sofa and covered him with a thin quilt. He was about to turn around and left when Ye NanQi turned over and the phone fell off.

[*佛送到西: doing good things til the end.]

Shen Du picked it up and glanced at it accidentally, then the screen just happened to turned on and a text message came over.

【J has stayed at home recently to prepare for a new movie, and F has no action, everything is as usual.】

Shen Du’s movements suddenly froze.

The names were both hidden head and tail, and this unclear short text message.

Ye NanQi was monitoring someone?

Somehow, Shen Du thought of Jiang YanYu almost immediately.

His face was slightly cold as he put the phone down on the table.

Shen Du didn’t immediately wake Ye NanQi up to dig up this matter. Instead, he turned to the kitchen, made a bowl of sober soup, put it on the table and returned to the living room. He went upstairs to think about another thing.

In fact, Shen Du didn’t drink much on the day of Jiang YanYu’s wedding, but his consciousness was too vague. After waking up that day, as soon as Ye NanQi left, he went to hospital to check and found that there were drugs remained in his body.

It was someone who ordered to mix medicine at Jiang YanYu’s wedding, which led to this series of things.

This person had got a dog gut and extremely daring, yet he hadn’t been detected.

Early the next morning, Shen Du hadn’t had time to find Ye NanQi to splash cold water on him yet when he was gunk up by his mother.

The newly born baby Ye was still in hangover state and hadn’t woken up yet. He curled up on the sofa in grievance, his two long legs had to be bent, his eyebrows were squinted tightly, no matter where or how he slept, it must had been very uncomfortable—probably like having a nightmare.

Never would have thought that when she came home, Mother Shen would see her daughter-in-law sleeping on the sofa. She only took a glance and became furious: “Shen Du! You jerk! What did you do to NanQi? Why did you let him sleep on the sofa? Are you bullying him while your mother was absence?!”

Because Mother Shen had high blood pressure, Shen Du couldn’t fight back, afraid that if he talked back, it could make his mother’s blood pressure soar up, so he could only bear her anger with expressionless.

When Ye NanQi woke up, he was still dizzy, but still heard Shen Du was being trained by his mother. He didn’t open his eyes yet, but after listening for a while, he understood what was going on. Thinking that Shen Du had helped him last night, and it wasn’t nice to hit a person who was already down, he sat up with his handover head and sooth the angry mother weakly.

For a while, there was a mess and chaos as if they were in wars. Fortunately, Mother Shen’s anger came and went quickly, protecting the poor and distressing Ye NanQi, she straightforwardly started looking for a nanny to take care of the big two men as well as monitoring Shen Du.

Shen Du: “Mom, how about we go to take parent-child DNA test this afternoon.”

Mother Shen gave him a stare: “There is no need for a test. If I had known you have this bad temper, I would have strangle you to death even before you were born already.”

Ye NanQi tried his best to hold back his smile and went upstairs to wash up. After coming back downstairs, he looked around and found that Shen Du was cooking porridge in the kitchen. He saw his figure viewed from behind his back, as if about to become an immortal that could fly out riding the tail of the wind at any time soon.

Ye NanQi tried his utmost best to hold his expression, he would rather be a ‘good wife and loving mother’ in front of Mother Shen and said that he would go help Shen Du, but Mother Shen stopped him, and said: “Don’t bother with him, we should let them cook. He, himself isn’t good at cooking yet still asking for a wife–don’t be afraid of this jerk, we’ll give you full authority to decide things. If he dare to bully you, tell us immediately. I’ll let him roll and kneel at countryside for three days.”

Ye NanQi nodded sincerely. In order to maintain his image, he smiled and emitted soft aura: “Shen Du is very good to me. Mom, Don’t worry, can’t you trust your own son a little?”

Mother Shen then nodded her head, waiting for Shen Du with helplessness face to serve them porridge. She pointed at the thing she brought and smiled: “I heard your mother say that you like crab buns, so I brought some for you to try.”

Ye NanQi’s heart was warm. His eyes were red, and his throat was dry as if being choked. After a series of disasters one after another that happening in his own family, instead of relying on his weak mother, he became the only one to take care of and support the family. He hadn’t had this feeling of being concerned and cared about for a long time now.

The Ye NanQi, who was usually good at talking and calm, was tongue-tied for a long while, before he lowered both of his eyes and said with a smile: “Thank you, mother.”

After having breakfast with the two of them, Mother Shen warned Shen Du again and again, only then she left with confidence.

As soon as Mother Shen left, the warm atmosphere in the room disappeared instantly. Ye NanQi still had a headache after the hangover, but didn’t show it in front of Mother Shen. Once she left, he didn’t bother to pretend anymore. Just slowly shaking off a ‘thank you’ and was ready to go upstairs to sleep again.

Unexpectedly, Shen Du stopped him: “Ye NanQi.”

Ye NanQi looked back in wonder.

Shen Du leaned against the table, his dark pupils looked like frost frozen in the winter night: “Did you arrange for someone to follow Jiang YanYu?”

Ye NanQi paused a bit, then immediately touched his mobile phone. He flipped through the short text message, his face wasn’t good at all: “President Shen is really good at self-restraint, yet actually peeping at other people’s conversations.”

Shen Du said: “You admit it?”

“Admit?” Ye Nanqi raised an eyebrow in amazement and laughed: “Shen Du, based on just a single letter and you can make a big play with it. Why didn’t I know that you still have the talent to be a novelist? Organize your brains someday and apply for the Guinness World Records ba.”

He said that, but he was very hesitantーshould he use this opportunity to tell Shen Du that Jiang YanYu was in danger?

But on what basis should Shen Du believe him?

But according to Shen Du’s temper, if he just revealed this information, should he pay attention?

Shen Du wasn’t fooled by Ye NanQi. He narrowed his eyes and looked at Ye NanQi for a while, then said: “Why find someone to follow Jiang YanYu?”

——Even if he wanted to cover up the past, he couldn’t hide anything once he saw Shen Du looking like that.

Ye NanQi never wanted to talk about Ye Mei with others, for those matters were like a string of chains tangling deep in his heart. He paused, sitting gracefully on the sofa, and said: “Because I found out that someone was following him.”

Getting an unexpected answer, Shen Du was slightly hesitant.

“I am in the same company as Xiao Jiang, and not long ago, I found something was wrong.” Ye NanQi supported his chin, and started talking nonsense: “Several people always follow him from far behind, neither like paparazzi nor fans, but very sneaky.”

Shen Du seemed to be thinking about much reliable of his words. After a while, he said: “But that’s not why you want him to be followed.”

“President Shen.” Ye NanQi chuckled then laughed: “The things I do, what does it matter to you? Who are you to Jiang YanYu? Who are you to me?”

Shen Du wasn’t angry, instead he raised his chin: “Remove the people you ask to follow at once.”

Ye NanQi raised his eyebrows, and just about to speak, then Shen Du said: “Guess how many days will you be arrested for this behavior?”

Ye NanQi couldn’t believe his ears: “You want to call the police?”

“I won’t call the police.” Shen Du showed a kindly grin: “I’ll send the evidence to YanYu’s husband and let him deal with it.”

“…” Ye NanQi felt uncomfortable.

He had a good relationship with Jiang YanYu, and because he had pursued Jiang YanYu, that excellent man who had just returned home from abroad to embrace the beauty, regarded him as a thorn in his eyes.

Shen Du probably could let him go, but it was hard to say for that person.

Ye NanQi could only text the private detective in front of Shen Du’s eyes to stop the tracking.

No matter how much he wanted to remind Shen Du to investigate what might happen to Jiang YanYu, it was really difficult to swallow up this anger. Ye NanQi returned to the room and discuss with Wen Chen about the drinking last night, and how they should begin to pull the game.

Moreover, now that Shen Du found out that he had someone to follow Jiang YanYu, making Ye NanQi realized that he must deal with the eternal matter first. Even if he couldn’t solve other things for a while, if he could at least deal with Shen Du earlier, was also good.

So, when Shen Du returned home after a hard day’s work, going upstairs and entered the room, and was preparing to change clothes and take a bath, then he saw a person lying on the bed. The figure was tall and slender, wearing a black bathrobe, carelessly showing off his fair white jade skin.

Seeming to have heard footsteps, Ye NanQi, who was lying on the bed reading a book, looked up and smiled brightly: “Husband, you’re back?”

Shen Du: “…”

Chapter 4 part 2

Jiang YanYu had an innocent and youthful look, which was very cute and attractive. Today he wore white shirt, so bright that the image of a white shirt teenager riding a bicycle in a cameo campus play could be seen in him.

Compared to Ye NanQi’s image of “Sun”, he was more like a brilliant little sun.

When Ye NanQi noticed him, Jiang YanYu also saw him, he smiled cheerfully: “Senior, it’s been a long time.”

The relationship between the two during their school day was very good. After pursuing rejection, the relation of Ye NanQi and him did not become rigid, it was just that his career became busy. Jiang YanYu also had to be cautious about distancing after marriage. He also had not taken the initiative to get together this month.

Ye NanQi liked this simple little brother very much. He smiled, talked to him a few words, then a man walked over in a hurry and stood quietly behind Jiang YanYu.

That was the acute-foresight agent with the name Fang XingYuan.

Ye NanQi smiled more politely, and naturally greeted him.

Agents also had a “ranking” gap. And the gap between Wen Chen and Fang XingYuan was very large. The main difference was the wide network of connections.

Just as when Ye NanQi wanted to be as close to Fang XingYuan as before, the phone rang.

He had to apologize to the two to pick up the call, and Jiang YanYu understandingly nodded and smiled.

Ye NanQi took a step forward, glanced at the caller, raised his eyebrows, and with a smirk at the corners of his lips, he said harshly: “President Shen has just traveled to the United States, isn’t the time over there different from here?”

He thought that Shen Du was too idle and with nothing to do, he just called to urge him to go back home, but unexpectedly Shen Du said: “Wife, I’m here to pick you up.”

Ye NanQi: “…”

Shen Du actually drove to pick him up. Ye NanQi’s horror mind told him that this was not anything as simple at all. He hung up the phone, turned around and saw Wen Chen standing behind Jiang YanYu’s back, staring at him with confused face: “Another thief will never die*. It ’s a pity that I don’t see a goose feather.”

[*贼心不死: never give up bad thoughts and keep doing it.]

Wen Chen couldn’t help but speak for his “Golden Master Hoe”: “Even if someone is a Clam, anyway, it is also a golden Clam. But have you heard of a golden toad?”

Ye NanQi immediately collapsed to the ground, almost bowing to his agent. It was not easy to evaluate his figure of speech. After bearing a laugh for awhile, he patted Wen Chen’s shoulder, as if nothing had happened, he asked: “I haven’t seen Xiao Jiang for a few days. What is he busy about?”

Wen Chen’s eyes seemed to be saying ‘You are not a Clam.’, he said: “It’s said that Fang-ge got the line of Liu Dao’s casting for his elder’s new movie, and will be bringing Xiao Jiang to see the investor. If it’s succeed, Xiao Jiang isn’t far away from being completely popular. Wen-ge isn’t capable of getting this opportunity, so let’s take it slowly… “

Ye NanQi felt a little cold on his back for a moment, as if there was a chill that suddenly came up from the the tip of his toe.

The gloomy and pale face of a girl from nine years ago, was still in sight. There was a touch of sorrow and resentment in her eyes, which overlapped with Jiang YanYu, and shocked him with cold sweats.

“… who are the investors?” Ye NanQi’s body trembled involuntarily when he spoke.

Wen Chen was a bit surprised by his attitude. He shook his hands in front of him and turned him around: “I heard that it is the high rank of Rongyu Groupーisn’t that your husband? Are you afraid that your husband having unspoken rules with the person you fancy?”

Ye NanQi: “…”

That was indeed a bit frightening.

Wen Chen laughed and did not notice Ye NanQi’s unnatural face.

Ye NanQi clenched his fists quietly.

The shadow of Rongyu Group had shrouded in his heart for many years. Like a piece of ice buried deep in his heart, cold and terrible. He nodded slightly, making him tremble.

He didn’t dare to imagine, if Jiang YanYu were to be involved in this muddy water*, would he really be safe?

[*滩混水: to be involved in dirty mess.]

The original bad mood became even worse. After getting in Shen Du’s car, Ye NanQi, without saying a word took out his mobile phone and stared at intently.

Shen Du touched his chin and felt that the public service advertisement ‘Calling on modern-day people to let go of their mobile phones and savior life’ was very reasonable.

Ye NanQi changed a phone card and anonymously sent a text message to Jiang YanYu to let him be careful and vaguely reminded him not to drink and eat when he saw the investors.

He even searched for some self-defense techniques.

Ye NanQi thought as he posed, he would probably be regarded as a mental-ill, but he still had to think of it anyway.

Shen Du gave Ye NanQi a glance. This one glance really made Ye NanQi come back to live. He put down his mobile phone and pretended to be causal: “I just heard that junior Jiang is going to meet the investors of Rongyu Group.”

A month ago, because of Jiang YanYu, the two people had a huge fight, arguing with each other like chicken and dog. Thinking of it now, it was very ridiculous and unsightly.

Shen Du thought it over and over again, and came to a conclusion of Ye NanQi’s meaning as ‘Don’t you help me get a good resource’, and indifferently said: “If you want resources, just say it.”

There was also a film and television company in the ShenJia industry. But because it was not the main one, it was not large, but it was not so small either. It could be said that it was enough to hold Ye NanQi .

Ye NanQi was stunned for awhile. He originally wanted to remind Shen Du to pay attention, and then he realized that this idea was indeed stupid and a wishful thinking. Rolling his eyes brutally, he said: “The resources of the small fresh meats, you keep for yourself ba. I’m afraid of losing my life. “

Shen Du was inexplicably blocked by him, sneered, and stopped talking.

Mother Shen, for fear that Shen Du would use ‘domestic violence’ after marriage, she would call every two or days to check the situations, and learned that Ye NanQi was always staying at the company. She then forced him to issue a military order of ‘don’t ever return if you can’t get him back’.

The two discussed the matter in the car and agreed that although they were disgusting with each other, they still had to pretend to be loving and harmonious in front of their elders.

So as soon as the aunt opened the door, she saw Shen Du embracing Ye NanQi’s shoulders and greeting her. Shen Du was half a head taller than Ye NanQi. He had a strong physical all year round, slender, tall and handsome. He was a good match for Ye NanQi.

The aunt nodded kindly: “I cooked you two’s favorite dish tonight.”

“Thank you.” Shen Du smiled.

The aunt quietly gazed at Ye NanQi and felt that Ye NanQi looked even better in person than on TV. Seeing his soft smile, his eyebrows, and the hidden temperament of a gentleman, the more she looked, the more she liked him. She then let them come in and hurried them to wash their hands, so that they could eat soon.

Mother Ye had already been here. After Shen Du and Ye NanQi finished showing their false affection in front of them, and seeing his mother’s quite satisfied face, they could finally let the hugging-hand go.

Ye NanQi greeted her, sat next to his mother, said a few words, then talked about his little sister.

The little girl had been upset recently, only holding the rabbit doll that her older sister had given it to her, and talked to no one. She only wanted her brother to go meet her.

Ye NanQi would return to the company tomorrow to continue practicing. It was extravagant enough that he could take half an hour to eat while he was still working. The hospital where the little girl was staying was very far from here. To go and come back, plus the time spending to coax the little one, might end up more than a day.

Ye NanQi hesitated. The role he was audition for this time was very important to him. After the audition was over, he could be more freely waiting for the result. He could also spend those time to do whatever he wanted.

Mother Ye saw his hesitation, knowing that the second son had a heavy burden on his shoulders, she smiled: “Wan Wan said, if you can’t go now, just call her first.”

Ye NanQi nodded his head, feeling guilty, he turned his head and his eyes accidentally met Shen Du’s. Both sides were stunned, and looked away uncomfortably. Ye NanQi stepped out of the room, went to the backyard, and called the little girl.

The call was connected in less than three seconds. There was a soft voice of the young girl over there: “The dark clouds can’t cover the sun, evil will eventually be defeated, and true victory will always belong enlightenment given to us by justice.*”

[*海伦凯勒: 《假如给我三天光明》If You Given Me Three Days of Light]

Ye NanQi said nothing.

The girl paused, and then said: “… They worked hard and thought hard, turning my flaws into a good sign, and letting me walk peacefully and happily in the shadow of the powerless change*.”

[*海伦凯勒: 《假如给我三天光明》If You Given Me Three Days of Light]

Ye NanQi looked up at the sky. After the autumnal equinox, night fell faster, and the moon had already revealed half of its face, and the faint moonlight seemed miserable.

Ye Wan had been in the dark for ten years, and couldn’t even see the moonlight.

Ye NanQi’s voice was soft like a spring breeze. It’s not the pretentious and gentle manner of the company’s packaging, which made people calm down involuntarily: “Wan Wan, there is no power to change.

Ye Wan’s sadness came fast, and went fast, as if as long as Ye NanQi came over on the phone, everything would be solved.

Ye NanQi patiently listened to her complaining about the doctor always gave her hard bitter pills, the nurse sister would not let her play more in the playground. Chatting and talking, the little girl’s mood was somehow brighten up. She had recently read a few books, and memorized some sentences. She recited them to Ye NanQi one by one, as serious as a student who was being checked the recitation by the teacher.

After Ye NanQi finished coaxing the little girl, he waited for her to hand up the phone happily. Looking down, he found another shadow on the ground.

He froze a bit, turned around, and found that Shen Du was standing behind him holding his hands behind his back, with a strange smile on the corner his lips, his eyes were surprised, as if he had discovered something new.

There was still a trace of smile on Ye NanQi’s face, but it immediately disappeared, leaving only twisted face as soon as he saw this man.

Shen Du watched his face changing speed very quickly, he didn’t care, and with no comment on his performance just now, he lazily said: “Time to eat.”

Ye NanQi couldn’t figure out his attitude. Looking suspiciously at his back, it took him while to exclaim an “Oh” and raised his feet and went back to the house.

Chapter 2

Marriage―

Even after death, Ye NanQi would never have thought that those two words were related to him at all.

He was so angry that a phrase of “F*ck your mom” almost blurted out from his mouth. But thinking of Mother Shen’s kind and respectful face, he swallowed the words back bitterly.

Seeing Ye NanQi acting weird on the phone, Wen Chen thought it was some paparazzi who dared to call Ye NanQi directly to ask for money. He hit the table out of anger, and was about to curse those people but was stopped when he saw Ye NanQi stood up with face full of uncertainty.

Wen Chen was scared and worried that he would really sell his own kidney for money: “There’s still a way to solve this problem, you don’t be impulsive…”

Ye NanQi heaved a long sigh as he had decided on a decision: “Wen-ge.”

Wen Chen, sitting on the side, was anxious but tried to listen to him carefully.

“Between photos scandal and marriage scandal, which one do you choose first?”

Wen Chen exclaimed an “Ah” and did not understand why he suddenly said that, but seeing Ye NanQi’s sincere and honest eyes, he said: “Your photos scandal and marriage? Of course it’s better to get married… Right! Whatever you choose, let’s solve the matter of these photos first. Otherwise I’m afraid you really have to…”

Ye NanQi understandingly nodded, yet lightly chuckled at Wen Chen: “But Wen-ge, did you forget that there are more than one paparazzi out there? Even this matter is solved off, with those who lack money, want to secretly slap me behind my back, and those who are well off, trying to stir up big news openly, this still won’t do me any good.”

Wen Chen was not stupid, he was just too lazy to think about that. If he really had a choice, he would choose to choke off his little artist who ran off to have a “One-night-stand” carelessly and got photographed right now.

Seeing that the other was frowning, Ye NanQi knew that he couldn’t walk out of this trouble without any responsibility, so he nodded his head and said: “Then, I’m going to get married.”

His expression was so composed, making Wen Chen felt confused for half a day. When he came back to his sense and realized that something was wrong, it was already late.

Too late.

Ye NanQi turned off his phone. Getting in Shen Du’s car, the gentleness, soft and delicate image that he usually pretend to be, instantly disappear, left only a hard punch thrown right at Shen Du’s face.

Shen Du did not dodge, and the hard punch fell on half of his face. With a painful face, he narrowed his eyes and frowned: “Don’t mess around in my car like a monkey in that messy clothes.”

The image of Ye NanQi had always been as a warm, courteous, gentlemen and followed the principle of “Gentlemen never use fist”, but seeing Shen Du’s face this close up, he wanted to give a punch again.

The clothes on his body was the ones he wore last night. It mixed with the smell of wine and smok, sweat and the unknown perfume smell which he didn’t know where it came from in this small car.

Ye NanQi stopped caring about his image and started making ruckus on the leather chair in the car. After seeing Shen Du’s face blacken, as if wanting to kill someone, he felt refreshed and mocked: “The matter of being photographed was solved so quick. I would never have thought that there would be a day when President Shen had to worry about the scandal.”

Shen Du did not angry when he heard it, instead he raised his eyebrows: “My face wasn’t shown in the photos, and the matter of solving this problem, let us just count it as one of a small compensation for the Superstar Ye. See what my mother says later, and you’ll know.”

The few words that came out of Shen Du’s cheap mouth could definitely make people explode. When Ye NanQi thought of the two honorable Goddess waiting for them at home, suddenly he felt like his head was swollen and didn’t want to go back at all.

Even both of them were in conflict, there was still one thing that they knew clearly well in their hearts; their respective mothers were their own nemesis. And it might not be impossible for them to get married.

Ye NanQi had a miserable life when he was a teenager. After his family moved, in less than a year, when his Father Ye drove a car to pick up his little girl from school, a truck which was driving off road ran into him causing a serious car crashed.

His dad uses his body to protect his little sister, and got a serious injuries himself. After being admitted in hospital for two months, his dad passed away. His little sister was still lying in the hospital bed, both of her legs were broken and both of her eyes also lost their brightness.

If there was no life, there was no despair. But unfortunately, the fact wasn’t as easy as that.

The older sister who wished to share some of the family burden off her mother’s shoulder, secretly dropped out of school. Not long after that, she was scouted by some agent to work in an entertainment industry. It was a good future at first but suddenly, all kinds of negative news, abused, drug used, loan shark, gambling emerged, and that was enough to take a person’s life.

The older sister who got too much emotional effected to the point of couldn’t take it anymore, committed suicide by jumping off the building. Then a bunch of debt collectors came smashing at the house’s door.

Ye NanQi’s mother was so shocked that she passed out on the spot and almost could never wake up again.

After so many years had passed, the two families whose had a very close relationship lost each other’s contacts. It was only a few months ago that they reunited with each other unexpectedly.

When his father was still around, he wouldn’t let his wife to do any hard works or have any hardships. But now that he wasn’t here anymore, the skin on the used-to ten-slender soft-white fingers of his mother was a little broken and extremely fragile. And Ye NanQi had become the main solely support of the family. In recent year, her son was working with sweat and blood for the family, even just seeing a broken skin on his finger could make her heart ache with tears.

When Ye NanQi was first entering the entertainment industry, the mother was strongly against it and they ended up in a cold war for a year. And it was only recently that they reconciled.

Ye NanQi thought for a while and felt that his head was really about to blow up.

Afraid that his head would be really blow up if he kept thinking too much, Ye NanQi set the awkwardness and embarrassment of sleeping with his love rival at the back of his mind.

Before arriving at the private room where the two ladies were waiting, Shen Du first took Ye NanQi to change his clothes, otherwise Mother Ye would be very embarrassed and scared into the hospital again.

Ye NanQi’s face was cold as when they went upstairs, but when they came back, there had already had a smile on his face under his mask since who know when. Shen Du was most annoyed by this fake pretence, and frowned.

Ye NanQi skillfully brewed two cups of tea, went to stand behind his mother, rubbed her shoulders, and warmly said, “Mom, Auntie.”

Mother Ye’s eyebrows were tender and delicate, and her white hair showed that she was getting on her years. She reached out her hand and touched her son’s head, looked at Shen Du with a smile, and sighed, “We have found someone who could really look after ourselves now.”

Before this moment, even before his mother spoke, Ye NanQi wanted to deadly struggle and protest, however, all the words got struck in his throat and fell right back in his stomach after meeting his mother’s soft eyes.

Ye NanQi’s mother had been through a lot in those years, to the point of becoming more and more fragile. No matter how much he hated this marriage idea, in the end he couldn’t argue. He didn’t have a heart to let his mother be upset, at least not because of him.

Shen Du did not expect Ye NanQi to give up even before fighting. He almost vomited blood out of anger. Facing the two elders’ probing gaze, he dared say: “Mom, I already said you misunderstood us.”

As soon as the words fell, Mother Shen’s tender smile gradually disappeared, but tried her best not to show in front of Mother Ye.

She held her best friend’s palm in her hands, smiled and said: “You also know that this child’s skin is very thin and easily to get shy since he was young. I’ll go and say a few words to him.”

Seeing the behavior of both mother-son pair, Mother Ye noticed something seeming to be wrong, she looked at her son with uneasy gaze.

Ye NanQi still had an indifferent expression as he gripped his mother’s hand, and said with a smile: “It’s okay, Mom. Don’t worry and think too much. Do you want to have some sweets first? The sweets here is delicious, it’s sweet but not greasy at all, and it melts in the mouth as soon as you take a bite. Wan Wan should like it too. You can also bring her some when you go to see her later. I’ve been a bit busy lately and I probably can’t go to the hospital.”

Thanks to these few words, Mother Ye’s previous attentions had been completed distracted. Ye NanQi secretly wiped away his sweat.

While Ye NanQi’s warm soothing voice calmed his mother, Shen Du was being lectured outside.

While the iron was still hot, Mother Shen started to educated her son fiercely. She looked left and right to make sure that they were alone, then raised her eyebrows at her son and said: “Shen Du, from since you were young, how did I and your father raise you? Men should be always responsible for what they do! Don’t think that I can’t see that you have objections against NanQi. I don’t care what’s the conflict between you two, but since you had already involved him, you must take responsible! Don’t you dare back out, you hear me?!”

Shen Du was not brave enough to tell his mother to mind her own business and let him be. With unbearable headache, he said: “Mom, but I don’t love him.”

Mother Shen said: “Who else has ever said ‘I don’t like’ but still end up falling in love in the end. Anyway, I like that child.”

Shen Du shrugged his shoulder: “Then you can just directly take him in as your son.”

Mother Shen was furious: “NanQi’s grandfather carried your grandfather on his shoulder, struggling off the battlefield. Your grandfather still remembered it even before his death. Their family isn’t doing well now, but NanQi, that child is too stubborn to ask for anyone for help. I want to give him some help, and secretly getting rid of his obstacles. In the past, how many times had the Ye family helped us, but when they were in their worst situation, we didn’t help them at all. Because of that, I and your father felt very guilty. Not to mention that you had slept with him, even if it’s just a favor, you must get married for me!”

Coincidentally, just when Ye NanQi’s side was in great disorder, the only Shen whom he thought that could help, was also in trouble and almost had poison while having family meal. Shen Du’s heart was already complicated. After hearing this, he was tongue-tied.

After a long while, he frowned and asked: “What if Ye NanQi disagrees?

Assuming that Shen Du was the bottom line, Ye NanQi could probably move Shen Du over the bottom line a bit, just for the sake of his mother and little sister.

His mother had suffered too much both physically and mentally. He did not want to cause any troubling things to make her worry too much, much less to say things that would irritate her-at least not on the surface.

This family affairs were settled so vaguely, just like that.

Mother Shen was afraid that the two would regret it. The next day, they were urged to get the marriage certificate. The pace was too fast and Ye NanQi had an inexplicable feeling of getting a thief ship after doing robbery. And on the way to get a certificate, he felt like going to a funeral home. After a long while, he regained his fake smile, saying it word by word: “AA system.”

[T/n: Algebraic Average: expenses are shared equally. (Your expense is my expense. Your debt is my debt. Lol)]

Shen Du lowered his head: “That’s what I thought too.”

After receiving the red book, the phone that had been turned off many days ago, just turned on right now-actually, his vacation ended since yesterday but since there were so many things happening in the past few days, he had to ask for a few more days off, pushed back a few endorsement, and after sending out announcement, his heart ached till it bled.

As soon as the phone was turned on, a call from Wen Chen came as fast as lighting. What’s supposed to come will always come. However, Ye NanQi had ready thrown all his messes to his newlywed husband to take care of. That photos scandal thingy, for Shen Du, it was just like a piece of cake.

Wen Chen was about to explode: “Where have my ancestor been to! I’m almost ready to call the police!”

Ye NanQi started searching for Meng Wei’s Blade Skull. [Note: I’m sorry, this part was too much. I didn’t get what it mean. Probably some game’s name…?]

“Where the f*ck did you get a mistress to get married to?” Wen Chen almost laughed out loud.

The voice was so lough that could even shatter mountain rocks. Even Shen Du could hear it outside the phone, he turned around in the gap of the green light with a poor expression.

Ye NanQi hobbled onto the front seat, thinking that even if could not kill this”Newlywed husband”, he could at least disgust him, so he smiled sweetly: “Honey, what about giving some proof?”

Shen Du thought a bit then fired back: “Wife.”

Ye NanQi felt disgusted immediately.

Feeling creepy, Ye NanQi hung up the phone. He adjusted his position, took a picture of Shen Du’s stoic face and sent to Wen Chen with a few words attached.

“This b**ch is too ugly, not a fest to the eyes at all. Okay, that’s it. The marriage certificate is fake.”

Life After Marrying My Love Rival Ch 1

Chapter 1

Translator: マイ

One of the most terrifying things in the world for person is that: waking up in an unfamiliar bed in your love rival’s naked embrace.

Ye NanQi’s head throbbed fiercely as he struggled out of the arms wrapped around his body. As soon as he stood up, he felt something wet flow out, down his thighs. Feeling stabs of pain in his lower back, Ye NanQi fell back on the bed numbly.

His whole body ached.

Ye NanQi’s face, which had always been calm, became stiff .

This was obviously a hotel suite. The curtains were draped over the window, in the dim light, the scent of sweat and the exchange of bodily liquids lingered in the air.

Ye NanQi laid on the bed, using the ten seconds of silence trying to recall what had happened last night.

The man lying next to him moved. Ye NanQi, as if suddenly bitten, instantly lifted a foot and kicked the man off the bed hard. The man’s head slammed on the ground, completely waking him up. The man squinted up from the floor, he frowned and his eyes flashing in anger in the dimly lit room.

Ye NanQi sat on the bed with his middle finger pointed accusingly at the man on the floor, gritted his teeth and cursed: “Shen Du, f*ck you. You f*cking bastard.”

When the two of them were children, they were dead rivals. It was unfortunate that when they met again after so many years, they were still rivals. Even if their parents were close friends, it did not stop them from hating one another.

But he did not expect that there would be a day where they would roll together in one bed.

Ye NanQi had no time to put on any clothes. The traces on his body clearly showed what had happened.

Shen Du snorted, his face was dark. The dip in his temples grew deeper. He narrowed his eyes and stood up: “Wanting to climb the bed so much that you came to me.”

Ye NanQi would have rushed at him and delivered a few punches if he wasn’t so sore. Hearing this, he grew even more angry, and yelled: “The one who was heartbroken hadn’t had a chance to get a service boy when Mr. Shen came to give service. The tip money will be paid, don’t worry.”

Shen Du wiped the corner of his lips. His gaze fell on the string of kiss marks on Ye NanQi’s neck, and his heart felt strangely stunned. He swallowed, wanting to speak yet forcing the words to die in his throat.

Ye NanQi pressed his own throbbing temples thought hard about what exactly were the causes and effects of this human tragedy.

Yesterday, the two people had celebrated their white moonlight at Jiang YanYu’s wedding. The two of them failed to pursuit, though they never uttered their feelings out loud. As a result, they were invited to participate in the wedding banquet as guests instead. They were depressed and unable to get over it, and spent a lot of time drinking and eventually drank too much.

And?

After that?

Ye NanQi really wanted to kill someone.

He had to be calm.

Calm.

He needed to take a shower and go home quickly, then call his agent.

He was still thinking when there was a banging sound from the other side of the door.

“Shen Du! Get out this instant! When I don’t watch over you for a day, you go and stir up a scene?! Even having a secret lover?!”

Ye NanQi looked up: “Why is Auntie coming now?!”

Shen Du was also scared.

The Shen family was extremely strict and dignified, unable to tolerate any kind of bad behaviour or scandal. If you became a part of the family, no matter how old you were, you had to go home every week for your parents to give you an appraisal.

Shen Du, who had not returned home for half a month, has been stalked by his mother for a long time.

In the hotel, at 12 o’clock noon, the boy had still not come out. Shen Du’s mom was about to be angered to death.

Shen Du glanced at Ye NanQi. He quickly calmed down and picked up a cigarette: “You, go inside the bathroom first.”

Ye NanQi’s face was not thick enough to stay naked in front of the elders so he flipped open the quilt and scrambled out of bed – he didn’t expect his hardware to be damaged so much that he fell with a thump.

A “fuck” was swallowed back.

Shen Du had a weird look on his face. His eyes inexplicably fell on the other’s slender waist. They travelled down the two beautiful mermaid lines. He hesitated slightly but in the end held himself back. Instead of helping him up, he went over and got dressed.

The knock on the door sounded again. Shen Du’s mom was extremely agitated and threatened from the other end to barge in.  Ye NanQi didn’t dare delay. He got himself up trying to charged into the bathroom by the help of the wall.

Outside, the door opened. Ye NanQi heard a “Pa” sound. Pressing his ear against the wall, he could hear the Auntie handing out a few more slaps.

“What bad thing did you do! Even learning from your cousin to raise a little lover! Where is he?!”

Shen Du’s voice was calm: “Mom, your way of thinking is too old-fashioned. Sleeping with someone also requires mutual consent. Otherwise, I wouldn’t touch them, let alone sleep with them.”

Shen Du’s mother said: “You are still young and immature, you don’t know how to be responsible yourself! Get him to come out right now!”

Shen Du couldn’t draw away his mother’s serious attention. He bit his cigarette, lowered his head, and unable to accept the fact that he had slept with his rival.

Ye NanQi also did not have the time to be gloating over a drama. After all, he was the miserable one of the show.

It was obviously impossible to sneak out at this point. Shen Du’s mother’s temper Ye NanQi also knew the best. If he did not go out, the door would be smashed.

Putting on a clean bathrobe, Ye NanQi was a bit disappointed that Shen Du was only slapped a little. He stopped in front of the bathroom door for a while. After making sure he wouldn’t hear another slap, he could only rub his sore waist and went out.

When she saw Ye NanQi, Shen Du’s mother was quiet.

No matter in the past or preset, Mother Shen was very good to Ye NanQi. Ye NanQi was full of guilt, knowing he had slept with her son, he didn’t dare to look at her and apologetically bowed his head: “Auntie, sorry, we drank too much last night… ”

Yet the expected scolding that he thought it would come after confessing, did not follow. Ye NanQi did not know how to proceed.

He raised his head in confusion, seeing the surprise and happy expression on Mother Shen’s face, his back felt cold.

Even after years of hatred had separated them wider than the sky, the two men had a tacit understanding. They knew that this would not end well.

Sure enough, Mother Shen, who was just angry, met at Ye NanQi’s eyes and smiled. It was even gentle and satisfying: “How did I not know these two children were in love? En, my son has grown so big, I really thought that no one would want to be with him. I had discussed this with your mom a few days ago to let you guys try it out.”

Ye NanQi: “…”

Shen Du: “…”

Mother Shen muttered a few words to herself, and directly made a decision: “Since you are already together, then get married ba.”

Ye NanQi and Shen Du’s faces turned blue, then white. At the same time, they shouted: “No!”

Mother Shen glanced at Shen Du coldly, and when she turned to Ye NanQi, her smile became like spring breeze. Before  Ye NanQi could open his mouth, she said: “Don’t be scared, NanQi, you can rest assured that this kid will absolutely be responsible for you.”

Mother Shen, considerate of this shy little couple, did not give them time to reply. She immediately departed, shutting the door behind her, and happily went to find the other’s parents to have a joyful discussion.

Ye NanQi sneered: “A man who can’t even control his lower half, what a beast.”

The beast looked at him and spoke lightly: “You speak as if you weren’t hard yourself.”

When they were young, the two of them often had a lot of bickering. Even over a little thing, they fought like a chicken and a dog, each of them knowing how to stab the other in the eye.

For many years, even after growing old, their relationship not only did it not getting any better, rather, they became a rare class of people who hated each the most. Such a fate.

The room was quiet for less than a minute before the phone rang. Ye NanQi picked up the phone. Seeing who the caller was, he quickly connected.

The agent who got “the user you have called did not answer” since last night and in the morning did not hide his dissatisfaction: “Why only answered the phone now? It wouldn’t be that you really sleep with someone last night?”

Ye NanQi said: “Actually ?”

Wen Chen said: “Ah, turns out it’s really true. Well, congratulation Big Shot Ye, you and that person were photographed by the paparazzi. It was a very clear photo. When it blows up, you will be ruined.”

“…” Ye NanQi shook slightly: “Wen-Ge, I can explain…”

Wen Chen sighed for a while and gnashed his teeth: “Get over here and tell me clearly!”

It had only been a few months after reuniting with Shen Du,  Ye NanQi’s bad luck had already reached the next level.

In the moment between choosing his chastity and his rice bowl, Ye NanQi immediately hung up the phone. No longer pay attention to Shen Du, he picked up the few pieces of clothes that had survived and started putting them on.

Shen Du looked at his movements and frowned: “Where are you going?”

Ye NanQi rolled his eyes and smirked: “Is it any of your f*cking business?”

Shen Du also wanted to ignore his business.

It was a pity that the two of them slept so fiercely that the f*cking “business” was no longer only one person’s.

Looking at Ye NanQi’s awkward movements and bracing straight back walking out the room, Shen Du sighed, picked up the phone and dialed a number.

Wearing a mask, Ye NanQi took a taxi to the cafe designated by Wen Chen, and was scolded head-on when he entered the private room.

Several photos were laid out in front of him. Ye NanQi saw himself and Shen Du in every single one. Shen Du was okay, half of his face was buried in the shadows, but he was exposed all the way, there was no way to say it wasn’t him.

The other party had not made the photo public, indicating their desire to take this opportunity to earn some money.

Ye NanQi was very angry. He had a healthy and inspiring image. Although there were many rumors about him, his fans always believed that he was the sun in the sky.

If these photos were published, even if the black material was not real, he would still have a twist on his path to become a star.

Ye NanQi locked his eyebrows for a moment and asked: “How much does he want?”

Wen Chen lifted a finger.

Ye NanQi: “One thousand per one photo?”

Wen Chen took his head: “Dream on! One for one hundred thousand! Once you have settled it, he will send the film.”

There were about twenty photos here. The other party was obviously blackmailing and was very inhumane.

Ye NanQi counted and looked up seriously: “Wen-Ge, how much do you think my kidney would sell on the market?”

“…”

The two sat in silence.

Wen Chen smoked his cigarette, and said in sadness: “Well, there’s a rumour in the circle saying that you are being sponsored by some rich old man. If you truly had a rich old sponsor, it would be pretty good.”

If he couldn’t pay it himself, it could only be handled by the company. Just last month, some of the company’s upper-level people wanted to have some “in-depth communication” with Ye NanQi. Afterwards, they were unhappy. They had deliberately given him several small shoes to wear. If this were to reported…

Ye NanQi did not smoke. He could only drink coffee and together with Wen Chen, feeling miserable.

He also didn’t know how they had rolled into bed last night. He still felt uncomfortable until now, especially his lower body. It was already at his limit to be able to sit and talk with Wen Chen here without any changes. His face pale, and was cursing Shen Du madly in his heart.

Wen Chen had a bunch of ideas in his heart, and he wanted to discuss with Ye NanQi. When he looked up, he saw Ye NanQi’s awkward movements, the purple marks on his wrists, and the messy hickeys on his neck.

Wen Chen: “…”

The words he originally wanted to say was swallowed back and finally said carefully: “To tell the truth, young people still have to pay attention to the body, don’t play too much and go overboard.”

Ye NanQi: “…”

Wen Chen pretended to be ignorant and asked: “I say, how much is your paycheck?”

Ye NanQi paused and said: “My little sister’s situation, you are aware as well.”

Besides, he had only been in two films get to where he was now. His future was bright, but currently he did not have much savings.

Wen Chen nodded and patted his shoulder and comforted: “I really can’t let you fall into this mess. After crossing this hurdle, we will come back after a few endorsements.”

Ye NanQi immediately shook his head. Wen Chen was just married, and it was not easy to buy a house in A city, so where would he have much money to lend him? He pondered for a moment, frowning over the contacts in his phone, and suddenly it rang.

Shen Du.

Ye NanQi wanted to hang up.

Shen Du’s voice was deep and magnetic, lethal to the ear: “Where are you.”

Ye NanQi raised his thumb, wanting to hang up.

Shen Du said: “The matter of the photos has been solved. My mom and your mother are waiting for us to discuss things.”

Ye NanQi was startled. Even if he really needed to sell his kidney, he wouldn’t have considered  finding Shen Du to help him. Unexpectedly, Shen Du moved so fast, and solved the problem without a word from him.

He frowned and asked: “What things?”

Shen Du smiled: “To pick a day to get married.”
